2021.10.19 21:11 Life-Ocelot-8466 How will this affect me?
Posting this in this subreddit because I was told it did not belong on AskAcademia
I am a freshman student, first year at undergrad in the northeastern USA. Recently, I had a problem in a class, and needed some advice. In our class, we had a total of 10 quizzes. Initially, they were meant to be in person, but the class was changed to online. Also, the quizzes were originally all closed book, but later the professor made the fourth quiz open note. I often did not attend class (I preferred to self study the textbook, and attendance was not required), but he would usually tell us via announcements on Blackboard the format of a quiz. For this quiz, he made no mention that he was changing the format or of any proctoring, so I believed it would be the same as the previous one, which was open note.
Usually, our quizzes that are closed book have recording. The way it is supposed to be set up is that only once we do screen recording and turn our webcams on can we access a link to a pdf for the problems of the quiz, which we are supposed to do on a sheet of paper and then take a picture and send it to the professor. However, he set it up incorrectly this time, so the link to the pdf was available without needing to turn on screen recording, and the button for the screen recording was all the way on the bottom of the page. When I started the quiz, I just saw the link to the pdf without any recording button, which I took as confirmation that the quiz was open note.
Around partway through the quiz, I finally did scroll down far enough to notice the button all the way on the bottom of the page. I was a little confused when I saw it, because there was nothing it was "protecting"; there were no other questions, and the quiz was already available above it, so turning it on would not reveal anything; the full quiz was already available. Thus, I assumed the button was there by accident; I couldn't think of any other explanation as to why it would be present, but be included after the quiz itself. Just to be sure, I double checked the announcements and instructions, which made no mention of any proctoring needed. I could not find anything, so I just concluded it was there by mistake, and continued with my quiz.
Looking back, this was actually the 2nd time the professor had made this error; he had done the same error on quiz 2. However, I never noticed it that time; I knew from the beginning that that quiz was closed book and with screen recording, so that is the first thing I looked for in that quiz. I did see a link above the quiz that time as well, but I assumed that it was for a study guide, not the quiz itself.
Anyways, the professor found out later that he set up the quizzes wrong, and so investigated to see if students cheated. He saw that I never turned on proctoring for quiz 5, and so was required to submit a report to academic affairs
Ultimately, I plan on taking responsibility for this incident; I will state that I should have contacted the professor when I missed class to confirm the quiz was open note, rather than assume it was since the last one had been as well, and I plan to accept whatever penalty imposed. However, I would like to demonstrate that it was not deliberate, but rather a result of misunderstanding. The reasons I plan on showing are:

2021.10.19 21:11 LordCosmagog My experience dating an E-girl, and why it’s now a deal-breaker
I dated an onlyfans girl. In terms of her “career” on there, I believe when we started dating she was in the top 8% or something like that (onlyfans tells creators where they rank by %). She was decent enough and made a decent income.
When we started dating, it wasn’t something that I really noticed all that much. I wasn’t super into it but most of what she was doing was just custom JOI content, she wasn’t doing any PIV acts, she wasn’t inserting stuff on camera, nothing like that. Mostly just JOIs in skimpy outfits (school girl, nurse, occasional bit of latex). And because she’d be doing that while I was at work and/or college, I didn’t notice it all that much. Maybe I’d come home and she’d have a sticky note on the bedroom door that she was filming so don’t come in, but that was it.
And then things started to change. She became increasingly competitive because the number of users went up and her rankings went down. She went from top 8% to like 15%. And her barriers between private life and onlyfans got eroded. She’d keep popping out during movie nights to go do an audio message or something to keep her “fans” talking and tipping. She’d spend more and more time on make-up, more and more time away from me, she got increasingly self conscious, dieted despite having what I’d assume to be like a 22 BMI. When we broke up, she’d been making comments about getting things “evened up” (hinting at surgery). She all but said she was considering a breast enlargement (despite lovely C cups).
I can’t go through that again. I know we’re supposed to do this “it’s her right, sex work is real work, if you can’t handle her at her worst you don’t deserve her at her best” shit. Fuck off. How about when your gf ditches date night to film customs for online strangers, then you can tell me all that shit. Because then you’ll have an inkling of how I felt for the better part of a year. I tried to keep it separate, but I just couldn’t. I want a woman who is all mine and I’m happy to be all hers. I don’t want a woman who bases her self worth on some random stranger online and his wallet/tips. By the way, do you remember back when a movie would show a guy was an asshole by having him miss date night to work late? Funny how that stereotype somehow doesn’t apply to women.
I’ll also add that I’d bet money there are men dating e-girls pretending like they’re cool with it but they aren’t. Dudes who are actually into it come across very pimp-like.

2021.10.19 21:11 AspireToInspir3 Starting out in QA. What to do before boot camp to prepare and what skills can I pick up.
So I'm starting in a QA boot camp in about a month but I don't wanna waste time till then. I have no background in tech and no degree. I was thinking of starting like the codecadamy Java beginners course but someone at the institute told me I shouldn't get into Java yet and should learn basic computing and stuff. So y'all are my second opinion lol. What can I do to get prepared for the course and help myself. What skills/certificates/ language can I work on that would complement QA that would look good on my resume later and help me integrate better into tech and QA without spreading myself too thin. Much love and thanks friends
